Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. No need to be nice. I just want to make it better.

laudr.com [laudr.com]

I'll start out by saying that I don't like the font I'm using for the title. It looks jagged and dull. Any ideas on how to improve this?

I like it and have little constructive to say except:-

1) It looks like a Digg derivative (but much cleaner);

2) The title font looks fine to me, but I don't like the colour. It jars against the colour scheme of the rest of the site.

Apart from that, a pretty neat site.

Thanks penman2. Yes, I definitely owe a tip of the hat to Digg. I love that site, but my focus is music, and I wanted to bring in more social aspects. For example, the kindred block, lists other users who have similar musical tastes. The recommended block, lists songs that you haven't voted for, but are similar to artists you've voted for in the past. I guess I owe StumbleUpon a tip of the hat as well. Anyways, it's all about music discovery.

It's a great site and I like it (being a music junkie). I was just saying that the front page looked a lot like Digg (but better).

I haven't explored the recommended list aspect - I have yet to find a site where this works successfully, whether it be Amazon or other music sites that claim to introduce you to new music you will like.

Hate that orange, though. Are you stuck with it ?

My comments (as always) are from a user's viewpoint, not a Web designer's perspective.

I'm not stuck with it. Truthfully, I can hardly dress myself properly (matching colors). Any suggestions? I was trying to be a little different as every other site on the web is made up of shades of blue.

Well if I was doing this (so this is my opinion as a web/graphic designer) I think that I would do a little more work for the header part first. It's really missing something with only title standing there and a lot of empty white space, so add some more stuff there or change it's color from white to some other. And for the title font, I would change it to something more bold that calls for some eye contact, so maybe some stronger and unusual font, or much better if you can do some graphic design and make some logo, it would add much to your site. It doesn't have to be with a lot of stuff in the header, it's cool to be simple as I really like simple sites, just this is too simple :)
And I would also change the navigation menu, it's very cliche in my opinion so there coz there are zillions of sites using same type of navigation so try make it a little different. It even doesn't have to be rectangle buttons, put something more simple but to look cool.
The bottom part of the page, I like it very much, it's that simplicity I'm talking about, it's clean and it doesn't have much details but it's cool.
And the truth is it really looks similar to Digg, but you can bypass that by adding some important datails, like add some green maybe somewhere for some text, or do some other color or text changes that differ it from Digg, it's much easier to do those changes than to make some new different layout. And I wouldn't change color where number of votes is, it's really nice clean blue.
After all, don't worry, it looks very pretty and nice, but it's just not finished yet. Good luck, hope I was helpful, you're doing it good :)

Thank you all for the advice. If I can save a bit of money, I'll hire someone to help me with graphic design. As for me, I'll continue to work on the back-end.

Speaking of: I've added a "mute" button for each artist's link, which when clicked will drop that artist from your rankings and prevent them from showing up in your recommended list.

Hello,

I just visited your laudr.com site. It looks very neat, simple, straightforward, and cool. The fonts are clear and easy to read. Easy to navigate. So web surfers can visit your website and view the different sections with ease.

The only little suggestion is: The title can be bolder and larger so that it stands out.

I'm having issues with Google's page rank. It's currently 0 for my site, which, if I'm interpreting this correctly, means Google is penalizing the site for some reason. I haven't engaged in any "Black Hat" schemes such as purchasing links, etc. So I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any ideas as to why, and what corrective action I can take?
