If you are going to charge people money to have you design a website for them, how do you expect to come up with an interesting new design if you can't even come up with one for your own site? |

StrangeJ.. assuming you have a wheel mouse.. . move your mouse cursor to the side scroll bar and image when you have the cursor over the bar and moving the wheel up or down it will scroll left and right.. it actually seems to make the experience alot better... what are you thoughts...
Ashlyn.. appologies for not sticking to topic.. :)
yeah its a tricky one.. .designing your own... this year i have come up with about 5 concepts through the year.. and havent been happy enough to go from concept to finish version... i think im very close though... maybe i should post all those dumped concepts....eeeeeekkkk! lol
my pry peeve.. .is ADVERTISING... especially the ones that are flashing.. moving fast.. while im trying to relax and read the content... i dont goto those sites as much, guess they will learn the hard way... |

Another pet peeve of mine is a really good website design with no content or vice versa. |

| | 41264 | Dec 5, 2004 3:33am | | I'm not a fan of side scrollers either, nor websites that look pretty but have sucky content, or worse, stolen content that doesn't have hotlinks or names removed! |
|
| Sponsor | StrangeJ | Dec 5, 2004 3:59am | | Even worse they steal someone's terms and conditions and forget to change the name to their own ...! |
|
| | 41264 | Dec 5, 2004 4:22am | Some idiot stole my whole website theme, including my guestbook. When I asked him to remove it, he said it was his design and called me a thief. I asked him why everyone was calling him Ashlyn in the guestbook, then promptly reported him to his ISP.. site was nuked not long after!
Best way to stop that happening, is to leave little hidden comments throughout your layout, or remote link to your images and stylesheet with the full URL, so if someone takes the pages, and you are feeling snarky, all you have to do is change the images and stylesheet and hey presto, really UGLY website for the thief! |

| Sponsor | StrangeJ | Dec 5, 2004 4:36am | | Also I believe you can embed code that checks whether it's under your domain, I'm not entirely sure though :) |
|
| | 41264 | Dec 5, 2004 4:46am | | I have a php script to stop people hotlinking to my images, and it sends me an email whenever someone tries, so that's easy to fix, but every now and then I go and check my site logs to see who is going where. I found someone hotlinking to my stylesheet, so I changed it on my site. The borders around the images were something like 1000000000000000px, bright green, with bright pink hover. It was bloody ugly, and the kid who stole it sent me an email telling me that someone did something to her site and how could she fix it! |
